Melinda Barkley, D.V.M. CVA

Dr. Melinda Barkley grew up in McMinnville, OR and always had many pets, including cats, dogs, guinea pigs, frogs, and birds. She has always had a special interest in cats, wildlife and horses. Dr. Melinda graduated from Pacific University in Forest Grove with a BS in 1995, then from Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999 and has been in small animal practice for nearly 30 years.

Dr. Melinda has also worked in Feline Shelter Medicine, Equine Rehabilitation and was certified in Veterinary Acupuncture in 2008 at Colorado State University. Dr. Melinda particularly loves working with cats and enjoys the challenge of their unique biology and behavior. It is Dr. Melinda’s dream to expand care for all pet cats, including senior care, nutrition, basic surgery and preventative care. Dr. Melinda believes that offering care in a feline-only setting is much less stressful for cats and offers a better quality of life for the staff and their patients.

Dr. Melinda lives outside Oregon City with her family, including 3 horses, 7 cats, and the family dog. In her spare time, she is either with the horses, tending the garden or checking out the local forest for the wildlife, mushrooms and wildflowers.
